Namaste Friends!  Here is your latest YBS news….

Moving and New Location

As I write this newsletter Tuesday afternoon, I am sitting on the pink couch at YBS reflecting back on the 9 ½ years in business, and specifically the 6 ½ years here on Queenston St. A part of me feels like it was only yesterday that I was 25 yrs old, bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to set Niagara on fire with the spirit of yoga, when I opened up this studio on Queenston St. I can still remember the smell of the brand new black rubber yoga mats that we used in those days, and the newness of every sound, every smell and every person that walked in the door. I had thought that signing a five year lease was crazy, as 5 years was such a LONG time and I couldn’t even fathom being 30. Now 6 ½ years later at 31, I’ve met thousands of amazing people, I’ve learned hundreds of business lessons (some more than once), I’ve assembled the best team on the planet to work with me, and it’s time to expand again.

Yoga by Sarah is moving! Our last day of classes on Queenston St. will be Saturday, April 19. There will be NO class on Sunday, April 20 as we will be moving.

Our new home will be 20 Grote St. in St. Catharines. This is located across from the Fairview Mall (Geneva St.), right behind the TD Bank and Dairy Queen, in the old Fine Kettle of Fish building. We are presently under construction there, building a brand new 4000 sq ft studio (twice as much square footage as Queenston St). There will be two studios in the new property, so we will be able to offer two classes at the same time, and offer a wider variety of classes. One of the studios is being built specifically for Hot Yoga, and it is fully self-contained and within minutes we can have that room smokin’ hot! Exciting news for you yogis who want to sweat and work hard, but no worries to the rest of you, the room can be used at normal temperatures as well! There will be a lot of great new features, like dimmed lighting, a walk-in closet for your belongings, plenty of washrooms/change rooms, an expanded retail section and more! Did I mention TONNES of parking?! There are also a few units that are available to be rented out, which would be great for any massage therapists, aesthetics or any other complementary business. If you are interested in getting some more information on the space for rent, feel free to call me or e-mail me at sarah@yogabysarah.com

Now, listen carefully my friends: We have run into some barriers with the City of St. Catharines, in regards to the building and zoning of Grote St. Believe it or not, it is not zoned to do yoga!! Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but it’s true. I will spare you all the gruesome details, but please rest assured that it is being handled as quickly and efficiently as possible. The contractor, realtor and the new owner of the building are all amazing people who are jumping through every hoop and handling all the details of this with the city. That being said, it has pushed this project back several weeks and we will not be able to move into Grote St. until the first week of June. In the interim, we will be running our classes at 303 Townline Rd, corner of York Rd, technically Niagara-on-the-Lake, out by the Purolator building and White Oaks. It is a brand new office building that is owned by the contractor, and we will have our own unit there where we will run YBS there from Monday, April 21 until the first week of June when we move to Grote St. I understand that for some of us St. Catharines people, it seems like a little bit of a hike, but in reality, it is only a few minutes on the QEW just over the Skyway, with lots of parking.

Now, I must admit that having an interim location for 6 weeks and moving twice doesn’t sound like a tonne of fun to me, and I do understand that it is a change to your routine and schedule and possibly inconvenient, and I completely understand. Let’s take on this adventure, let’s have fun with it and let’s trust that the universe is unfolding perfectly. I know that for me, it will be one of those momentous times in my life that I will look back upon and say “Remember when?” I’d really like for you guys to join me on this journey and let’s create something new and powerful!

Please feel free to call me or e-mail me at sarah@yogabysarah.com should you have any questions, concerns, creative ideas or just to drop me a note!
