Namaste Friends!

Yoga by Sarah is moving… just not quite yet! PLEASE READ

We were originally scheduled to be moving to our new location on Grote St. this coming weekend, and opening up for business on Monday, June 16. Due to several unforeseen construction events, there will be a two week delay and we will NOT be moving this weekend. Instead, we WILL be moving on the Canada Day long weekend and officially open for business on Wednesday, July 2. In the meantime, we will keep all classes running and be open business as usual at our 303 Townline Rd temporary location. I understand that this news will land differently on everyone – some of you may be disappointed, or perhaps even frustrated. Others of you may be completely understanding or indifferent about it. Many of you will probably feel a little bit of everything. Wherever you are it with it, I completely understand and get it.

I really do need to acknowledge all of you for your patience, understanding, compassion and your willingness. Many of you have expressed your “have yoga mat, will travel” philosophy that both warms my heart and makes me laugh. Many of you have been willingly coming out to the temp location and having fun with us on this journey. I also know that some of you are not able to make it here as much (or at all), but have been supportive and are waiting for our move back to the “big city”. There have also been complete strangers who have already pre-purchased memberships for Grote St. That trust in me and all of us at YBS is really inspiring, and it makes all of this worthwhile, and I thank you.

For me, these past several months have been a time of the some of the biggest changes and risks in my life. My emotions have been all over the map – there were times that I cried for hours over leaving Queenston St, other times when I have jumped and done pirouettes in my living room over the excitement of the new studio and all the new possibilities that it holds. And, there have been other times of worry and fear and wondering if anyone will travel to our temporary location in the “woods” (as I like to call it), and there has been a ton of anxiety wondering if its really the best time for an expansion. It’s a good thing I have my yoga practice to keep me grounded and bring me back to centre. How’s that for irony??! What I can honestly say about this whole process is that it has given me the opportunity every day, every moment, to practice my yoga. Not the physical asana poses kind of yoga, but the REAL yoga that is about being present in the here and now, practicing kindness and compassion, trusting that the universe is unfolding perfectly, listening to my heart and my intuition, and to take the risks, no matter where it may lead me.

My father, Francesco, sent me an e-mail several weeks back. It seemed to come at the perfect moment, shortly after moving to the temp location. Here is an excerpt from it:

Dear Saru':

All things come to pass and then they pass away; this is in the ephemeral world. What won't pass away is the raised consciousness that we gained. The making of Yoga by Sarah on Queenston St. was special. A new chapter is now unfolding, and more expanded awareness, for more raised consciousness will ensue. And so our life is made up of brief moments in history.

We have posted on our website www.yogabysarah.com, a letter from Calamar Construction which explains some of the delays in more detail. Please click here to read it.

Jay is in Iran

For those of you who don’t know, our fun, comedic and only male yoga instructor, Jay Kowsari, has been visiting his homeland of Iran for the past 6 weeks. He was originally scheduled to return this week, but he has recently chosen to extend his stay there to spend more time with his 90 + year old father and to work on selling his property there. We do expect him to return, it’s just very unclear when at this point. Such is the life of a travelling yogi! I know that many of us miss him, and we look forward to his return.

Namaste and many blessings,
