We’ve
gone greener!
It is an honour to live in such an amazing region, and I
consider it my responsibility to keep our city (and country)
beautiful, green and clean.
In addition to the recycling program we’ve always had in
place, we have recently started a composting program here at
YBS. You will find posters and compost bins in each of the
washrooms, change rooms and in the reception area explaining
the changes with details of how and what to dispose of
things! Please take the time to familiarize yourself with
this, and feel free to ask any of the staff if you are
unclear. We are playing to have less than 10% of what we
take to the curb be garbage. It is totally doable with only
minor changes in our habits! I hope you’ll join us!

MS Walk
Results
We had a fun time at the MS
Walk on Sunday, April 19. In just a few short weeks, our
team raised over $2500! Thank you for your contributions and
support. My mother, Margaret Griffiths, sends a message as
follows:
SARAH’S MOTHER SAYS THANK
YOU.
YOGA BY SARAH TEAM, ZEN FRIENDS, RAISES $2300 FOR MS!!
On behalf of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada,
Niagara Chapter of Hope, a heartfelt thank you to all you
generous and energetic yoga-ites for your efforts for the
ZEN FRIENDS team. The MS Walk in St. Catharines raised over
$150,000 exceeding last year by $1,000. An amazing
accomplishment in these difficult economic times!
I am going to proudly claim that it was the new ZEN FRIENDS
team, organized by my wonderful children, Sarah and Aaron
Giovannone, that put it over the top!
I have been on the Board of Directors of our local Chapter
for 4 years. Be assured that the MS Society of Canada and
our local organization, the MS Niagara Chapter of Hope, use
these funds prudently and effectively. Our local chapter
provides services to those living all over the Niagara
Region and MS Canada is instrumental in sponsoring the world
class research that happens in our country. Canada is a
leader in MS research and huge strides are being made in
understanding and treating this nasty disease.
Thank you for helping us END MS. It will happen in our
lifetime!
Detox
Flow Charity Workshop – Saturday May 23
We are donating our studio on

time and teaching this workshop, modeled after Seane Corn’s
Detox Vinyasa Flow. There is a suggested $20 donation and
ALL proceeds will go to Amanda Tripp’s (another YBS
instructor) 2009 Off the Mat Into the World Seva Challenge
to raise $20,000 to benefit women and children in Uganda
whose lives have been deeply affected by poverty, AIDS and
war.
